Overview
An Island, Twice a Day
Chale Island is a genuine tidal island — accessible on foot at low tide and only by boat at high tide.
Chale Island Resort occupies a small private island just south of Diani Beach on Kenya's south coast, connected to the mainland by a sandbar that appears and disappears with the tide. Rooms and villas are built in a Swahili-Arabic style using local materials, set among indigenous coastal forest that covers much of the island's small footprint. The setting gives guests the rare experience of a genuine private island — complete with its own coral reef for snorkelling — as the closing chapter to an inland safari, a short flight or transfer from Nairobi away.
