Overview
On Chief’s Island
Ten enormous pavilions in the Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game Reserve.
Chief’s Camp stands on Chief’s Island in the exclusive Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game Reserve, in the Okavango Delta. The area takes its name from Chief Moremi, the hereditary king who kept these lands as a royal hunting ground, and the island itself was formed by the Delta’s seasonal floodwaters. Moremi is widely called the predator capital of Africa, and the concentration of lion, leopard and wild dog here is the reason the camp exists where it does. Large herds of elephant and buffalo move through, alongside more than 500 bird species.
Reachable only by air. There is no road access. The camp has its own licensed private airstrip roughly two kilometres away, and every arrival is by light aircraft.
