Fish River Lodge is the only lodge situated directly on the rim of Fish River Canyon, a 160-kilometre gorge that ranks among the largest canyons in the world after the Grand Canyon. Rock-built chalets are positioned along the rim to make the most of the view, with the canyon floor visible far below through layers of ancient geology. The lodge is a popular staging point for the multi-day Fish River Canyon hiking trail, as well as shorter guided walks and scenic drives along the rim for those not undertaking the full trek.
