WEST LAKE, LINGYIN ROAD
Lakeside Village Hotel — Hangzhou

On Earth,
There Is Hangzhou

Just 78 rooms, suites and villas laid out as a low-slung lakeside village, on nine acres of Chinese gardens beside the West Lake that has enchanted poets and emperors for a thousand years.

Overview

A Village,
Not a Tower

Local height restrictions kept Four Seasons Hangzhou to just two storeys, and the result is a hotel that reads as a traditional Jiang Nan lakeside village rather than a conventional high-rise resort.

Black-tiled pagoda-style pavilions sit low against nine acres of bamboo forest, lily-strewn ponds and Chinese gardens, woven through with willow trees and mist-covered lagoons on the northwest corner of West Lake, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Just 78 rooms and suites plus three standalone Song Dynasty-inspired villas make this one of the more intimate Four Seasons properties anywhere, despite opening as a newly built hotel in 2010. Nearly every room looks onto either the tranquil gardens or a quiet stretch of West Lake itself, with ground-floor rooms adding a private terrace, and the three-bedroom villas going further still with a private garden, indoor pool and cinema.

Just a five-minute walk to West Lake. Despite its secluded, garden-village feel, the hotel sits a five-minute walk from West Lake itself, with complimentary bicycles and an electric boat dock making the journey even shorter.
