Overview

The Centrepiece
of the Capital

Three hundred and twenty rooms and suites facing Constitution Square and the House of Parliament.

The Grande Bretagne has been the centrepiece of Athens since it opened in 1874, standing opposite Constitution Square and the House of Parliament. Its 320 rooms and suites have floor-to-ceiling windows with light and views across Acropolis Hill and Syntagma Square, and an $88 million restoration in the early 2000s added the features that now define it: a rooftop pool and the GB Roof Garden Restaurant & Bar, both facing the Acropolis. The changing of the guard happens on the square below, visible from selected rooms.

The rooftop faces the Parthenon. The GB Roof Garden is one of the great hotel views in Europe — the Acropolis lit at night, from a table on the roof, with the Lycabettus Hill on the other side.
