Le Morne → Chamarel → Black River Gorges → Casela → Tamarin Bay → Macondé → Le Morne. Day-by-day scrollspy markers to follow.
Arrive at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport and transfer by private luxury vehicle to Paradis Beachcomber on the Le Morne Peninsula — around 87 minutes by road.
The day is deliberately relaxed. Settle in and walk the white sand beneath the towering silhouette of Le Morne Brabant, the UNESCO World Heritage mountain that dominates the southwest horizon and that you will be climbing tomorrow.
Sunset drinks and dinner as the mountain’s shadow stretches across the lagoon.

An early private guided hike of Le Morne Brabant. It rises 556 metres, takes three to four hours return, and is manageable for an average hiker with some genuinely steep sections near the top.
The mountain is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for what happened on it: it was a refuge for escaped slaves through the 18th and 19th centuries, and the site is protected as a memorial to that. From the summit, the sand and silt runoff that creates the underwater-waterfall illusion is visible in the water below — useful context for the aerial flight later in the journey.
The afternoon returns to the resort for the beach, the pool or the Spa Beachcomber, which runs Ayurvedic treatments, body wraps and hydrotherapy.

Inland through the southwest, into a landscape of plunging ravines and green forest. Chamarel Waterfall is the first stop — one of the island’s most dramatic, and encountered on the road up to the geopark.
The Seven Coloured Earth is the second: dunes of volcanic sand in seven distinct shades, the result of ancient basalt weathering at different rates. The two pair naturally, and the drive between them is half the pleasure.
The afternoon continues through the Chamarel landscape before returning to Le Morne.

A full day in Black River Gorges National Park, the largest and best-known wilderness in Mauritius, with more than 50 kilometres of trails through what is genuinely fairytale forest.
The Macchabée Trail is the classic: ten kilometres, two to three hours, running through hills and forest to the Macchabée Viewpoint, which is also the best picnic spot in the park. Most of the route is shaded, and it turns muddy on wet days — proper shoes matter here.
With luck the day brings fruit bats overhead and a handful of the endemic species that survive nowhere else. Return to Paradis in the late afternoon.

A full day at Casela Nature Parks, on Royal Road at Cascavelle — African safari encounters transplanted to the Indian Ocean, and one of the island’s genuine highlights.
The Eco Rider Safari runs through habitat holding lions, zebra and giraffe on a guided tour. The Walk With Lions follows: 45 to 60 minutes, supervised throughout by rangers and guides, and close-up in a way nothing else on the island is. Minimum age and height requirements apply and we confirm them for your party in advance.
The afternoon adds ziplining, the Big Cats Kingdom, and the giant tortoises, zebra and antelope across the wider park. Return to Paradis in the evening.

Back to Casela for a more intimate morning: Breakfast with Giraffes, which needs advance booking and does not run every day, followed by giraffe feeding — which works for every age group and is more affecting than it sounds.
The rest of the morning is with the giant tortoises, zebra and antelope. The afternoon is Casela’s adventure zone: ziplining, canyoning, or the self-guided nature trails for anyone who would rather walk.

An early private boat from La Preneuse Beach or Grande Riviere Noire — typically 7:30, because the dolphins are there first thing and gone later. Spinner and bottlenose dolphins are residents of the west coast, and the sighting rate runs at roughly 90 per cent.
Guests enter the water in small groups to be close to them in their own habitat. Touching marine life is prohibited — this is observation only. Lifejackets are compulsory on the boat and in the water outside the lagoon, and the excursion is not suitable for pregnant women or anyone with mobility impairments.
Midday brings snorkelling over the west coast reefs, and a private lunch on a secluded island or beach. The afternoon explores the western lagoon before returning to Le Morne.

A private scenic drive along the southern coastal road, which is the least developed and most dramatic stretch of coastline on the island.
Macondé Viewpoint sits on a rock outcrop above the sea with the full sweep of the rugged southern shore either side of it. Baie du Cap follows, and then the wild beaches and cliffs that run east from there.
Return to Paradis in the late afternoon.

A morning paragliding session, subject to weather and operator conditions. The southwest’s coastal winds and the drop of the Le Morne landscape make it one of the better settings in the Indian Ocean for it.
The afternoon is a private helicopter or scenic flight over the underwater-waterfall illusion — the aerial phenomenon created by sand and silt moving over the edge of the coastal shelf, not an actual waterfall, and invisible from ground or sea level. The flight runs roughly 35 minutes and also takes in Le Morne Brabant, Chamarel, Black River Gorges and Flic en Flac. Minimum two passengers to book, four to operate, and a passport copy plus passenger weights are needed to reserve.
Sunset on Le Morne, and a private final dinner at the resort.

Breakfast at leisure and a final beach walk beneath Le Morne Brabant, then a private airport transfer for your international departure.
We are here for that. Every Finders & Keepers Safaris itinerary is a starting point, not a fixed departure — the pace, the lodges, the length, the dates and the party travelling can all be reshaped around you. Tell us what you would change and a specialist will rebuild the journey and price it honestly, before you commit to anything.

The Walk With Lions carries minimum age and height requirements, which we confirm for your party before booking — it is an age-restricted activity, not a general one. Breakfast with Giraffes needs advance booking and does not run every day. Le Morne is three to four hours return with steep sections, and the Black River Gorges trails get muddy after rain. Paragliding and the helicopter flight are both weather-dependent, and the helicopter needs two passengers booked and four to operate.
