Overview
Tujia and Miao, Reimagined
Opened in 2017 inside the core of the Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area, this 719-room resort blends modern design with architectural motifs drawn from the region's Tujia and Miao ethnic traditions.
Spread across roughly 95,000 square metres just five minutes from the Suoxiyu Nature Reserve and Tianzi Mountain, the hotel sits at the doorstep of some of the most photographed scenery in China — the same quartz-sandstone pillars, some rising over 200 metres, that famously inspired the floating Hallelujah Mountains of the film Avatar. Rooms and suites are designed for sightseeing-led stays, many with floor-to-ceiling windows and open balconies that frame the surrounding peaks directly from bed. A poolside bar serving Southeast Asian-style barbecue under the stars and a full-service spa give guests reasons to linger between excursions into the park itself.
Inside the UNESCO World Heritage boundary. Wulingyuan was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992, its more than 3,000 sandstone pillars and peaks considered one of China's most distinctive natural landscapes.
