Overview
Where Jungle Meets the Andaman
Set in a tranquil, private bay on grounds home to a 10-million-year-old rainforest, The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi was built in harmony with its surroundings, inspired by the local kampong village and indigenous Bornean longhouse architecture.
Designed by Kuala Lumpur-based Tropical Area Architects, the resort's futuristic three-storey glass towers and rainforest villas use floor-to-ceiling windows to let guests observe wildlife — including resident dusky leaf monkeys — from a distance previously unimaginable. Green-veined marble bathrooms echo the lush foliage just beyond the window, while touchpad-operated blinds let guests close off the outside world entirely when they choose. The resort's spa, housed in overwater pavilions echoing the traditional Malay bubu fish trap, remains the only overwater spa on the island, and an adults-only Horizon infinity pool extends toward the sea for uninterrupted views of the Andaman.
Sea, rainforest or overwater — three ways to stay. Accommodation spans rainforest-facing rooms and villas, beachfront villas, and overwater villas on stilts above the sea — a genuinely wide range of settings within one resort.
