Overview
A Ridge Deep in the Forest
Set on a flat ridge within Bwindi Impenetrable Forest itself, Gorilla Forest Camp is a remote, atmospheric mountain sanctuary and one of the only two properties actually located inside the national park.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in southwestern Uganda, is home to roughly half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas alongside rare forest elephants, giant forest hogs and eleven other primate species. Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp's eight canvas tents sit under thatched roofs on wooden platforms, dressed with indigenous prints and furniture made from natural materials. The camp's setting inside the forest means gorilla families occasionally wander through camp of their own accord — a rare privilege even among Bwindi's other lodges — and the start of the trekking trail is only minutes from your tent.

Location
Deep Inside Bwindi Forest
Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp sits on a flat ridge deep within Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, in southwestern Uganda.
Bwindi is one of the richest ecosystems in Africa, home to over 350 bird species and eleven primate species, gorillas included.
The camp’s location inside the park itself is a rare distinction — most Bwindi lodges sit outside the park boundary.
The 94 steps from the road to camp are, as regulars joke, designed to get guests fit for the trekking ahead.
The camp supports the Bwindi Community Hospital and Victory School through its ongoing philanthropy projects.
