Saruni Samburu is built into a rocky hillside inside the Kalama Community Conservancy, directly bordering Samburu National Reserve. Its elevated position gives sweeping views across the Ewaso Nyiro valley and the reserve's dry, dramatic terrain, a contrast to the riverside camps clustered lower down. As with Saruni's other Kenyan properties, the lodge works closely with the surrounding Samburu community, whose conservancy membership and revenue-sharing model directly funds local schools, health services and conservation initiatives.
