Overview
A Rhino Stronghold on a Sandstone Ridge
Perched high above the Malilangwe Dam within a private 130,000-acre reserve, Singita Pamushana is a lodge built with a singular purpose — to fund the conservation of one of Zimbabwe's most important wildlife sanctuaries.
The Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve is owned and managed by the not-for-profit Malilangwe Trust, which reintroduced 28 black and 15 white rhino to the land in 1998. That programme has been so successful the reserve now serves as a source for restocking rhino populations elsewhere in Africa, protected by 55 dedicated wildlife scouts. Pamushana's architecture echoes the grand stonework of Great Zimbabwe, its interiors rich with stone, wood, ebony, gold and Shangaan artwork. The lodge exists solely to generate income for the Trust's conservation and community programmes across 38 distinct habitats and over 105 ancient San rock-art sites.
