Fifty-three rooms opposite Hagley Park and the Avon, and the only hotel in the city with a one-to-one staff ratio.

Overview
Fifty-Three Rooms
A small hotel facing the largest park in Christchurch.
The George is deliberately small — 53 rooms, on Park Terrace, facing Hagley Park across the Avon River. It runs a one-to-one staff-to-guest ratio, which is the only meaningful way a hotel this size competes with the international brands, and it is why the place is regarded as it is. Most rooms look over the park, which at 165 hectares is the reason Christchurch is called the Garden City. There are two restaurants in the building: 50 Bistro, facing the park, and Pescatore upstairs, which is seafood-led and works as a proper occasion rather than a hotel dining room.
Hagley Park is the outlook. Most rooms face the park and the river. It is 165 hectares, and the Botanic Gardens sit inside it.
