Overview
Space, Silence and Soulful Connection
Set within the private, 2,100km² NamibRand Nature Reserve, Wolwedans Desert Lodge is built entirely around horizon-wide space — vast orange dunes, craggy mountains, and rolling skies.
Desert Lodge is the flagship of the Wolwedans Collection, positioned on one of the most enviable outlooks the NamibRand has to offer. The main lodge and its ten wooden chalets stand on stilts along a dune crest, their canvas panels rolling back at dawn to let the desert flood into every room. Since its founding 25 years ago, Wolwedans has run on an ethos where people, planet and profit carry equal weight — the lodge doubles as a base for the Wolwedans Desert Academy, a hospitality training programme that has supported over 300 young Namibians into careers in tourism, funded in part by a nightly sustainability levy from every guest.

Location
Deep in the NamibRand
Wolwedans sits within the private NamibRand Nature Reserve, roughly 60km south of Sesriem in southern Namibia — one of the largest private reserves on the continent.
The NamibRand spans some 2,100km² of ochre dunes, gravel plains and skeletal mountain ranges, privately protected since the 1990s.
In 2012, the International Dark-Sky Association designated the NamibRand a Dark Sky Reserve, one of only a handful worldwide.
A nightly sustainability levy funds the NamibRand park fee and the Wolwedans Foundation’s conservation and training programmes.
The Desert Lodge is the largest of five Wolwedans properties, which also include Dune Camp, Boulders Camp and Plains Camp.

An airstrip at the Wolwedans farmhouse serves guests arriving on fly-in itineraries from Windhoek or Sossusvlei.
