A low pass over the Lewis Glacier, a landing beside one or both lakes for a picnic in air that most visitors to Kenya never breathe, then a descent of nearly three thousand metres back to the foothills before lunch.
Enquire About This FlightOverview
Most climbers on the standard routes never see either lake.
Lake Alice sits at around 3,550 metres, a still sheet of water below the peaks. Lake Michaelson is higher and harder still — up near 4,000 metres in the Gorges Valley, just below Vivienne Falls, ringed by cliff and scree.
A helicopter turns both into a single morning: a low pass over the Lewis Glacier en route, a landing and picnic stop at one or both lakes, then the descent back to the foothills before lunch — a trip that would otherwise take the better part of a week on foot.
